The task of making sense of ourselves and our behaviour requires that we acknowledge there can be as much value in the blink of an eye as in months of rational analysis. The ephemeral and almost immaterial nature of existence interests me, such as the fleeting thoughts and ideas that can dominate a lifetime.
Within my practice to date thoughts are translated into an action and recorded. The work suggests the pathos of human experience, coupled with a sense of curiosity. The idea often dictates the method. When it comes to the task of understanding ourselves and our world we can very often pay too much attention to those grand themes and too little to the particulars of those fleeting moments, thoughts and actions.
Questioning is a key aspect within my work. Compositional intrigue and the sensitive transformation of a slight subject or observation into a compelling form fuels my practice.
